Animal Services permits the adoption of outdoor animals through the "Barn Buddy" Program. This program was established to provide adoption services of semi-feral cats, feral cats and dogs that cannot acclimate to an indoor environment but could live comfortably in an outdoor environment in a barn, farm or on rural property.

The animals are provided the same veterinary services as adopted indoor animals. Adopters are required to comply with Lee County's Ordinance regarding rabies vaccinations and County licenses.

Outdoor catOnce an adoption application is completed and approved, potential adopters will be contacted when an animal becomes available that could be a good match for the "Barn Buddy" Program.

This program is one more opportunity Animal Services has implemented to save the lives of animals that would have otherwise been euthanized due to their inability to acclimate to an indoor environment.
