Facility Service Updates

***Please Note: Garbage and debris generated outside of Lee County is not accepted at Lee County facilities.***

Lee County's integrated Solid Waste Management System uses several different facilities for safe disposal of unwanted material. Please click on a link for more information about each facility.

The Resource Recovery Facility in Buckingham is available to residential and commercial customers needing to dispose of material; or purchase bulk mulch, or bagged or bulk compost. In accordance with Florida Statute 316.520, covering and securing loads with a close-fitting tarpaulin or other appropriate cover or a load securing device meeting the requirements of 49 C.F.R. s. 393.100 or a device designed to reasonably ensure that cargo will not shift upon or fall from the vehicle is required. Please review all site rules before you arrive.

The Topaz Court Solid Waste Facility is available to residents for convenient drive-through drop off of unwanted household chemicals and electronics. Complimentary copies of our educational brochures are available at the facility. Additionally, OrganicLee® compost is available for purchase by the bag.

The Reuse Center, two doors down from the Topaz Court drop-off facility, offers latex paint and household chemicals back to residents at no charge. Inventory changes daily.

The Lee/Hendry Regional Solid Waste Disposal Facility, the regional landfill located in neighboring Hendry County, is used for disposal of the ash residue remaining after the Waste-to-Energy combustion process. There are also separate areas for municipal solid waste (MSW) disposal (Class I) and construction and demolition material (Class III).

The Compost Production Facility, located at the Lee/Hendry landfill, is used to process yard waste and biosolids into beneficial compost - diverting these materials from the waste stream and putting them back into use.

There are five Free Mulch Locations in Lee County available to residents.
