      Income-eligible homeowners who experienced property damage during hurricanes Helene and/or Milton in 2024 can now pre-apply for LeeCares Hurricane Housing Recovery Programs. Visit leeflcares.com to begin the pre-application process. Following this initial screening, a full application will be required to proceed with the HUD grant process. Individuals who need assistance with the application process may call 239-382-5453 or visit the LeeCares Intake Center, from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday, 9400 Gladiolus Drive, Suite 270 in Fort Myers.

      Statewide residential Mitigation Program through FDEM

      The Florida Division of Emergency Management (FDEM) is excited to announce Florida’s first statewide residential mitigation program, Elevate Florida. The goal of this program is to enhance community resilience by mitigating private residences against natural hazards like hurricanes and floods. 

      The property owner does not need to have experienced flooding or damage in the past to be considered. However, applications may be prioritized based on history of loss. Property owners can learn more here or apply directly through the FDEM Elevate Florida Application Portal.

The funding may only be used for necessary expenses related to disaster relief, long-term recovery, restoration of infrastructure and housing, economic revitalization, mitigation, and planning.
