Notice is hereby given that there will be two public hearings before the Lee County Board of County Commissioners to consider the amendment to the Florida Gulf Coast University (FGCU) Campus Development Agreement pursuant to Florida Statutes, Sections 1013.30 and 163.3220 et seq.
Location of Property Subject to the Agreement: The FGCU Campus consists of 760 +/- acres and is located east of I-75, south of Alico Road, and west of Ben Hill Griffin Parkway in several sections of Township 46 South, Ranges 25 and 26 East, Lee County, Florida.
Building Intensity and Height: The proposed development contemplated by the Agreement is a State university (Florida Gulf Coast University) serving primarily Lee, Charlotte, Glades, Hendry, and Collier Counties; and including all facilities needed to provide for a maximum of 18,984 students (by 2015). These facilities are proposed to consist of 1,700,000 gross square feet of academic and support buildings and approximately 5,000 beds of student housing (by 2015). There are no limitations on the height of structures.
Schedule of Public Hearings: December 3, 2013 and December 17, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. or as soon thereafter as may be heard.
Location of Hearings: Lee County Commission Meeting Room, 2120 Main Street, Fort Myers, Florida.
A copy of the draft amendment to the campus development agreement is available for public inspection during business hours at the Division of Public Resources located in the Courthouse Administration Building, 2115 Second Street, Fort Myers, Florida.
Anyone wishing to appeal the decision(s) made by the Board with respect to the matters considered at the meeting will need a record of the proceedings. Generally, a verbatim record, including all testimony and evidence upon which the appeal is to be based, will be necessary.
