Notice is hereby given of anticipated US Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Fiscal Year 2016-2017 allocations for unincorporated Lee County and urban county partners City of Bonita Springs, City of Sanibel, and Town of Fort Myers Beach.
The total allocation of Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) is $2,616,336. The total allocation of HOME Investment Partnerships Program (HOME) is $660,032. The total allocation of Emergency Solutions Grant (ESG) funds is $228,418, for a total entitlement of $3,504,786. Program income is anticipated to be $50,000 resulting from these activities.
The Lee County Annual Action Plan for HUD 2016 will be submitted to HUD prior to the deadline in August 2016. More than 95% of funds will be directed to benefit low to moderate income households. Program funds will be utilized for affordable housing projects, including rapid re-housing assistance, rehabilitation, and down payment assistance. Program funds will also be utilized for community development projects, including public facilities improvements, concentrated code enforcement, public services in targeted low-income neighborhoods, and public services and operating funds for homeless shelters and agencies providing services to the homeless.
Lee County does not intend to displace any person by implementing these activities. In the unlikely event that activities require displacement of persons, Lee County will adhere to HUD relocation regulations and the approved local relocation/displacement plan.
Lee County, in compliance with HUD regulation and local administrative code, encourages citizens to participate in the development of this plan. Lee County held its first public hearing on November 12, 2015, and will hold its second public hearing on March 10, 2016, at 5:30 PM at the Lee County Department of Human Services, 2440 Thompson Street, Fort Myers. All comments from citizens will be considered in preparing the final plan and reported in the document.
