Conservation 20/20 has acquired multiple parcels within the Corkscrew Regional Ecosystem Watershed (CREW), an expansive 60,000-acre area of interconnected swamps and environmentally valuable land spanning both Lee and Collier counties. These parcels range in size from 2.5 acres to 40 acres and serve to advance the goal of CREW in sustaining Southwest Florida’s wetlands for the benefit of future generations.

The success of CREW is critical for the purposes of aquifer recharge, water purification and natural flood protection in the region. Additionally, this land is essential to the survival of iconic Florida species like the Florida Panther and Florida Black Bear and wood storks.

Approximately 15,500 acres of CREW are located within Lee County in Flint Pen Strand, named after the Flint family who once ran cattle in the area. In the more than 20 years since the establishment of the CREW Land & Water Trust, the vast majority of land in Flint Pen Strand has been acquired.

Our managing partners with CREW Land & Water Trust, Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission and South Florida Water Management District have established a series of parking lots and trails near acquired Lee County Conservation 20/20 parcels in an area commonly referred to as CREW Flint Pen Strand. Currently, most County-owned sites within CREW are well away from established trails or parking areas.  Site 428 is an approximately fourteen acre parcel located on the northeast corner of Bonita Grande Blvd and East Terry St.  A walk-through gate to access the property on foot is located on the east side of Bonita Grande Blvd, approximately 250 feet north of the intersection with East Terry St.  Be advised that this site has no onsite parking, nor amenities such as maintained trails or bathrooms.
