Apply Online for FEMA Disaster Assistance: 

If your household was impacted by the disaster, FEMA may be able to assist with disaster related expenses, home repairs, and provide other financial assistance. 

To qualify for FEMA Disaster Assistance, you must be a full time Florida Resident (living in Florida for more than 6 months out of the year). If you have homeowners’ insurance, you must make a claim with your insurance company before applying for FEMA Disaster Assistance.

Lee County Human & Veteran Services has assistance programs available to many Lee County residents, including those impacted by Hurricane Ian. Assistance programs are available in three broad categories: financial assistance, homeless assistance and veteran assistance.

The Cape Coral Business Recovery Center is closing on March 30th, 2023

The Small Business Administration (SBA) and the Florida Small Business Development Center (SBDC) have opened a business recovery center to assist with the following programs:

  • SBA Physical Disaster Loan
  • SBA Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL)
  • Florida Small Business Emergency Bridge Loan Program

United Way continues its commitment to providing additional information on resources available to the residents in the aftermath of Hurricane Ian.

The 2-1-1 Storm Information Hotline is staffed and available Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Call 2-1-1 or 239-433-3900. 

Distant friends and family can use the Emergency Service Request Form from the Florida Division of Emergency Management to request help for loved ones they have lost contact with following Hurricane Ian. Local residents can also use the form to ask for help.

FEMA Needs Your Contact Information 

Florida survivors who applied for FEMA disaster assistance after Hurricane Ian are asked to provide current contact information to ensure the application review process stays on track. 

It’s important to update FEMA about changes to your status, particularly your housing situation. You should update FEMA concerning changes in insurance, your phone number and other contact information as soon as possible and as often as necessary. FEMA may need to contact you. Missing or wrong information could delay the delivery of assistance. When contacting FEMA, keep handy the nine-digit number assigned to you when you first applied. 

To update your information, you can call 800-621-3362 from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m. or visit a Disaster Recovery Center. To find a center near you text “DRC” and your Zip Code to 43362 or visit fema.gov/drc.

Funeral Assistance

FEMA provides financial assistance under the Individuals and Households Program (IHP) to households with disaster-caused funeral expenses. Learn more here.
