The Riverdale Public Library is undergoing a comprehensive renovation project. Having leased the facility for ten years, the County purchased the building in 2018. A needs assessment was completed and changes were identified to improve the exterior look and maximize the usage of interior spaces for patrons and staff.
External improvements include architectural, landscaping and parking lot upgrades that enhance the function and appearance of the library. Interior renovations include a central service desk, a flexible meeting room and separate spaces for adults, teens and children. ADA upgrades were made to both the building and parking lot.
Construction began in May 2022 and the building reopened on April 25, 2023.
Funding The total cost of the project was about $4.1 million, which includes design, construction and technology furniture. The project is being paid from the Library Fund property taxes
