I have a cordless phone, how will AlertLee help me if I lose power at my house?

Who can I call for information when a hurricane is threatening Lee County?
You can call the Emergency Information Hotline, when it is activated, at 2-1-1.
It may not be reached on some hotel, cell, or pay phones. In these cases, the Emergency Information Hotline can be reached by dialing 239-533-0622, and selecting option 1.
What happens when I call 9-1-1 during a hurricane?
All emergency vehicles are pulled from the roadways once the sustained wind speeds reach 40 mph.
Dispatchers will continue to take emergency calls, and stack the calls for the response once the winds drop below 40 mph again.
When would a road be closed?
Are the bridges closed during hurricanes?
We do not close bridges, but access may be restricted to, or from, the bridges due to roadway flooding. This can occur long before a hurricane makes landfall.
Can I go to the shelter closest to my house?
Shelters are opened based on the type of hazard and the risks associated with that hazard.
You can find out which shelters are open by selecting the Find My Evacuation Zone and Active Evacuations or Shelter Information buttons on the home screen of this app. Don't forget to listen to your local media outlets.
Can I go to any open shelter?
Yes, but you will need to bring your Go Kit.
If you have pets, then you will need to bring all your pet supplies and vaccination records.

Can I bring my firearms to the shelter?
What are some steps I should take if we need to evacuate?
Make sure your shutters are up;
Secure any outdoor furniture;
Turn your water shutoff valve to the off position;
Clean out your refrigerator in case the power goes out;
Take any important documents with you when you leave.
What should I be aware of when running a generator?
Carbon Monoxide is an odorless, colorless, tasteless gas that can build up in areas without proper ventilation. It is highly poisonous and deadly.
Do NOT run your generator in an enclosed space, like a garage, and make sure it is away from open windows.
