Lee County Domestic Animal Services has four divisions:
Lost & Found Pet Center
The Lost & Found Pet Center is open Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for owners to claim their lost pets and to intake stray pets found by the public. Two customer service representatives staff the center during hours of operation. For after-hours emergencies, call 239-533-7387 to reach our answering services. Eleven animal care specialists are employed to care for lost pets as well as those currently available for adoption in our Pet Adoption Center.
** Tuesday evenings the lost and found department is open until 5:15 for the public to locate missing pets only.
Pet Adoption Center
The Pet Adoption Center is open Monday through Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Pets not claimed by owners are made available to the public for adoption. Applications may be submitted in person or online. Volunteers are on hand to help potential adopters select a pet that best suits their family and lifestyle. Two to three customer service representatives staff the Pet Adoption Center to approve applications and process adoptions.
Veterinary Services & Pet Licensing Center
Our Veterinary Services provide medical care for all pets that enter our shelter as well as operates a program for sterilization of pets whose owners receive public assistance. Veterinary services are provided by two staff veterinarians, four veterinary technicians and two customer service representatives.
Our Licensing Department operates the sale of pet licenses and communicates with local veterinary offices to obtain rabies vaccination records. Microchip are available Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. No appointment is necessary. The Center is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday.
Field Operations
Our agency employs 16 Animal Control Officers and one supervisor to handle all domestic animal-related incidents in unincorporated Lee County, as well as in the Town of Fort Myers Beach and the Cities of Fort Myers, Cape Coral, Bonita Springs and the Villages of Estero. Our Field Operations Department is committed to protecting the safety and health of the residents of Lee County. Field Operations provides service to Lee County 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
