Tournament Information

The, “Cusic”  was established by Gene Cusic in 1990 and began with only 11 teams. Today the Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic® draws nearly 75 men's and women's National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III softball and baseball teams, and the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) softball teams, to participate in regular season games during spring break. Most of the teams come from cold weather states and umpires arrive from across the nation.  

The first pitch of the “Cusic” is in early March and the final out is recorded three weeks later. These athletes, umpires and their families stay at our local hotels and visit our local restaurants, attractions/entertainment, and beaches.  The Gene Cusic Collegiate Classic® contributes significantly to the economic vitality of Lee County.
