TOLL FACILITY PREPARATIONS FOR ONE WAY TOLLING

Fort Myers, FL (October 2, 2007) – On June 12, 2007, the Lee County Board of County Commissioners approved a one year trial period for implementing One Way Tolls on the Cape Coral and Midpoint Memorial Bridges starting November 1, 2007.   Currently, a $1.00 toll is collected in both the east and westbound directions. Starting November 1st, Lee County will stop collecting tolls in the eastbound direction, and will collect a $2.00 toll in only the westbound direction (heading into Cape Coral). In preparation for one way tolling implementation, equipment changes and toll lane closures are needed.

Beginning today at Cape Coral Toll Facility, one eastbound (heading into Fort Myers) toll lane will be closed throughout the month and one westbound (heading into Cape Coral) toll lanes will be closed until mid-October.  Other lane closures will occur during evening hours.

The Midpoint Memorial Toll Facility will have lane closures during even hours throughout the month.  On October 31st, there will be multiple lane closures in the late morning.
