Alternatives Public Information Workshop Scheduled For the Colonial Boulevard Project Development & Environment Study

Fort Myers, FL, Dec. 3, 2007– The Lee County Department of Transportation (LC DOT) is holding an Alternatives Public Information Workshop for the Colonial Boulevard (CR 884/SR 884) Project Development & Environment (PD&E) Study.  The public is encouraged to attend and to provide input on the proposed alternatives.  This is the time to see and make comment on the future Colonial Boulevard!  The workshop will be held from 4:30 - 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, December 6, 2007 at the Fort Myers Christian School Cafeteria at the First Assembly of God, 1550 Colonial Boulevard, Fort Myers.  The workshop will be conducted in an "open house" format; no formal presentation will be given.  Please attend the workshop anytime between 4:30 – 6:30 p.m.

The purpose of the Colonial Boulevard PD&E Study is to find alternatives to reduce congestion and improve safety along Colonial Boulevard from west of McGregor Boulevard to east of Interstate 75 (I-75) in Lee County, Florida.  Project exhibits showing the alternative concepts for Colonial Boulevard from McGregor Boulevard to I-75 will be on display.  The alternatives evaluation matrix, which is used to evaluate the cost, viability and feasibility of the alternatives, will also be available.  Lee County project team members will be available to explain the alternatives in greater detail and answer any questions.

The LC DOT believes strongly in the importance of public involvement and community input is very important during the study process.  LC DOT encourages everyone interested in the project and the future of Lee County to attend this public information workshop.  Comments will be evaluated and incorporated into the study where possible and will be used as an additional tool in the alternatives evaluation and selection of a preferred alternative.  Everyone is invited and encouraged to attend the workshop to view the project progress and comment on the study.
