Teen Summer of Service (S.O.S) is a service-learning program series for middle school and high school teens, ages 12 to 18 years of age. The program provides a flexible option for teens to earn service hours while learning more about community organizations and the issues those organizations support and address.
The program series will span six weeks in the summer and include a virtual workshop and service projects for each participating organization. S.O.S starts Monday, June 2, and runs through Friday, Aug. 2. Completed service projects are due to the home branch of each registered teen by the last day of the program.
Virtual programs will take place 1-2 p.m. Wednesdays on the dates listed below:
- June 4 – S.O.S. Teen Orientation Meeting
- June 11 – Human & Veteran Services
- June 18 – Conservation 20/20
- June 25 – Supervisor of Elections
- July 9 – Animal Services
- July 23 - Wrap Up
Each workshop includes a short presentation from the organization, followed by breakout group discussions and activities. Teens can choose from a variety of service projects to earn a maximum total of 25 service hours.
