Will the South County Regional Library close while it's being renovated?
Yes.

When did the library close?
5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2024.

When will the library reopen?
The library is scheduled to reopen in late 2025.

What can I expect when the Library reopens?
The renovations include new furniture, flooring and shelving, additional study rooms and a programming room for children and teens. Replacement of the mechanical systems including the electrical and HVAC systems, a new roof and fresh paint both inside and out also are planned.

What other libraries can I visit while South County is closed?
Your library card is accepted at all Lee County Library System locations

Additionally, you may visit the Three Oaks Community Park, located at 18251 Three Oaks Pkwy, Fort Myers, FL 33967, where we are providing limited library services. Our thanks to the Lee County Parks and Recreation for hosting the Library System while this branch is closed.

When will the Three Oaks Park location be open? 
Service is currently available at Three Oaks Park.

Hours:
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Friday, Saturday from 9 a.m. - 5 p.m. 

What services are available at the Three Oaks Park location?
Services include:

I have library materials on hold at South County. How can I get them?
Materials being held at the South County Regional that are not picked up by 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, will be moved to the Three Oaks Park location and available for pick up after Sept. 16. 

How can I pick up items I have on hold when they come in?
Items originally requested for pick up at the South County Regional Library will be sent to the Three Oaks Park temporary location. Patrons may change their pick up location to another library branch during the closure if they prefer.

How can I return books and other materials? 
Library materials may be returned to any Lee County Library System branch. Additionally, a book drop will be available beginning Monday, Sept. 9 at the Three Oaks Park site. No returns will be accepted at the South County Regional Library during the closure.

Where will the South County Regional Library staff go during the renovations?
Staff will be working at the Three Oaks Park location and at other library locations throughout the county.

What is happening with the library books?
Library materials will be packed and stored in a climate-controlled facility for the duration of the renovation. Once the materials are packed and stored, they will not be available until the building reopens.

New materials, selected and purchased for the collection, will be stored by the book vendor or at the Library Processing center. 

Why is the building being renovated?
The South County Regional Library, remodeled from a former bank processing facility, opened in 1996. The mechanical systems must be replaced which provides an opportunity to improve, update and modernize the interior to meet the needs of the fast-growing Estero community.
 
How are the renovations being paid for?
Funding for the renovation will come from the library’s Capital Improvement Project (CIP) budget.
