How to Print from the App

Step 1: Add a printer: Tap “No Printer Selected” across the bottom of the main screen, and then tap on “Search” to search for a Lee County Library System (LCLS) branch location.

All the Lee County Library System libraries begin with LCLS, for instance: LCLS Fort Myers Regional Library. Tap on the “i” icon next to the “Black and White” or “Color” printer and tap “Save”.

Step 2: Select a file: From the main screen, select the type of file to print: Documents, Photo, or Web. Follow the prompts to browse and select the file to print. Once selected, tap on the green Print button.

Step 3: Enter email address:  Enter an email address and tap on the checkmark icon to send the print job. Use the same email address to release the print job at a print release station. A blue banner will display when the print job is started and then a green banner will display when the print job successfully processes.  Your print job will be available at the Print Release Terminal at the library you selected. Enter the email address you used to pay for and retrieve your print job.

Frequently Asked Questions
How long do I have to pick up my print job?

Print jobs will be available for 24 hours. After 24 hours print jobs will need to be resent.

How much does it cost to print from my own device?

Printing costs are the same for mobile printing as they are from library computers. Black & white is $0.10 per page. Color is $1.00 per page.

How long does it take for a mobile print job to show up in the print queue?

There are a few factors that contribute to the time it takes for a print job to reach the print queue: file size, Internet connection speed, and method used.

Print jobs sent using the mobile app or website are typically available in the print queue in 3-5 minutes for files sizes 15MB or smaller.

Print jobs sent via email will typically reach the print queue in 6-8 minutes. Larger files will take longer to upload from your device, process, and download to the print queue at the library.

How do I send a file from my Google Drive or Dropbox to a printer using the PrinterOn mobile app?

You will need to download the file from your Google Drive or Dropbox onto your device first, and then send the downloaded file from your device to the printer using one of the three methods (website, app or email).

What is the maximum size file I can print?

Several factors can limit the size of the file that can be printed, including constraints on the size of email attachments.

The maximum file size for the PrinterOn website and mobile app is 50MB.

The email message size limit (total with attachments) for the MobilePrint system is 20MB.

What types of files can I print?

Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio files.
PDF files.
Image files (PNG, JPG, GIF, TIFF, BMP) Text files (HTML, RTF, ASCII Text, Unicode Text)

How do I get my print jobs?

  1. To pick up your document, go to a Print Release Terminal in the library you chose to send the print request.
  2. At a Print Release Terminal, click on Print Release.
  3. Enter the email address you gave when submitting the print job.
  4. The print jobs in blue will be the ones printed. Click on multiple print jobs to print them at the same time.
  5. Select the Print button at the top left.
  6. Use the Vending Device next to the printer to pay for the print job in cash. After inserting your money, select the Pay from Vending Device option.
  • If your print job is over $5.00, please go to a service desk for assistance.
  • If you do not release your print job within 24 hours of submission, you will need to send your job again.

What if I sent a print job to a printer but I no longer need it?

Print jobs will disappear after 24 hours if not released. You will not be charged for print jobs that you decide not to print.

Why can’t I find my print jobs when I enter my email address at the Print Release Terminal?

If your request cannot be found in the Print Release Terminal, it is likely that an incorrect email address was entered. Please double check which email address was used when submitting the print job.

It’s also possible that there was a typo in the email used when you submitted your print job from the website or the app. Staff can check the staff view of the print queue for a print job submitted with a similar email address.

It’s also possible that your print job was sent to a different library location or incorrect type of printer (Black and White vs. Color). Staff cannot move print request between locations or type of printer. You will need to send the print job again.

I sent my print job to the wrong library location – how do I get it sent to the correct location?

Staff cannot send print requests to other Locations. If you sent a print job to the wrong library location, you will need to send it again to the correct location.

I sent my print request but it’s in black and white – why does it charge me $1.00 per page?

All print jobs sent to the color printer will cost $1.00 per page. The printer doesn’t change the price based on the file.

Staff will not be able to move a print job to a black and white printer. You'll need to send the file again to the correct printer.
