All of LeeTran's full-size buses are accessible to people who use mobility devices: wheelchairs, scooters, walkers, etc.
When the bus comes to a stop, the driver will have it "kneel;" a hydraulic system lowers the bus so the step is just 8 inches above the ground. Then a ramp is extended through the front door which comes to rest on the ground.
The seats in the front area of the bus are designed to fold up to accommodate mobility devices. There are straps mounted on the floor that your driver will secure to the device. Please use these securements at all times for your safety.
Citizens with mental and/or physical disabilities are entitled to ride LeeTran at a discounted fare of 75 cents per ride. There are also discounted passes for the disabled. However, you must show the driver a LeeTran photo I.D. card when you board in order to receive the discount.
To obtain a LeeTran photo I.D. card, visit the Rosa Parks Transportation Center, 2250 Widman Way, Fort Myers, (map) and present identification and medical certification of the disability. The cost is $1.00. The center is open Monday through Friday from 8:00am until 5:00pm.
