Do you know what happens to the materials you recycle?

Asset Arrow Paper

Paper

Recycled paper is sent to facilities for producing new paper and paper products such as paper towels and drink holders. Paper can be recycled 4 to 5 times before the cellulose fibers that form a sheet of paper become too short for paper-making.

Metal

Once sorted, baled and sold, the cans are taken to a recycler where it may be used for new cans, steel beams, rebar or in fluoride toothpaste. Aluminum cans are reprocessed into new cans and can be returned to store shelves in as little as 60 days!

Cardboard

Over half of corrugated cardboard is recycled into new cardboard; the remainder is down cycled into paperboard and other paper products. Cardboard boxes can go through this process 5-7 times before loss of quality!

Plastic

There are seven categories of plastics based on shared qualities and they determine which new products plastics become. These products include items like new containers, sleeping bags, plastic lumber, clothing and carpet.

Glass

Glass is sorted by color and made into new bottles and jars. It takes one million years for a glass bottle to break down in a landfill.
