At Large/Category The Board of County Commissioners shall appoint an advisory committee with at least one ( 1) locally elected official with no term limit andeight (8) but not more than eleven (11) members in compliance with Florida Statutes 420.9076, as may be amended. The committee must consist of one representative from at least six (6) of the categories below: Citizens who are actively engaged in the residential home building industry in connection with affordable housing; Citizens who are actively engaged in the banking or mortgage banking industry in connection with affordable housing; Citizens who are actively engaged in those areas of labor actively engaged in home building in connection with affordable housing; Citizens who are actively engaged as advocates for low-income persons in connection with affordable housing; Citizens who are actively engaged as for-profit providers of affordable housing; Citizens who are actively engaged as real estate professionals in connection with affordable housing; Citizens who actively serve on the local planning agency pursuant to F.S. 163.3174; Citizens who reside within the jurisdiction of the Board of County Commissioners; Citizens who represent employers within the jurisdiction; Citizens who represent essential services personnel, as defined in the local housing assistance plan. The locally elected official serving on the advisory committee, or a locally elected designee, must attend biannual regional workshops convened and administered under the Affordable Housing Catalyst Program as provided in s. 420.531 (2). If the locally elected official or a locally elected designee fails to attend three consecutive regional workshops, SHIP funds may be withheld pending the person's attendance at the next regularly scheduled biannual meeting. |

Purpose: |
The Committee shall annually review the established policies, procedures, ordinances, land development regulations, and adopted local government comprehensive plan and shall recommend specific actions and initiatives to encourage or facilitate affordable housing. |
